Fighting For All Of Us

As your MID Director, I will:

Adopt low and fair electrical and water rates for all ratepayers

Stop wasteful spending

Stop the political infighting and unite the Board to fight the state water grab

Serve our entire community and not the special interests who export our water

“I will bring common sense to the MID board to ensure MID provides our families and businesses with low rates, reliable power, and clean water.” – John Boer

John Will Serve All of Us, Not the Special Interests

Incumbent Stu Gilman’s key supporter cut a special deal taking free MID irrigation water and then selling our Modesto basin groundwater outside of our basin for millions of dollars.

Gilman’s election led to MID Board dysfunction and political infighting. This has caused record staff turnover, including three General Managers in four years and the resignation of MID’s top water experts.

Since Gilman’s election, MID operating expenses increased by over $52 MILLION, General Manager pay increased over 30% to $365,000, the highest pay of any public employee in our entire County. Actions by the Board majority, including Gilman, led to multiple harassment claims and costly settlements.

All of these costs are passed onto you, the MID ratepayer. We need to elect John, who will control costs and keep rates low.” – Terry Withrow, County Supervisor and CPA

“John Boer will represent our entire community, not the water exporter who is subsidized by the rest of us.” – Larry Byrd, MID Director

About John

John has lived his entire life in MID Division 4, and is a third generation Wood Colony family farmer. John and his wife, Elizabeth, have been married 24 years. They look forward to their daughter Morgan, who studies Agriculture at Fresno State, joining the family farming business.

John followed in his grandfather’s and father’s footsteps as a Woodland Avenue volunteer firefighter, serving for 28 years. He is currently the Assistant Chief.

As a farmer, business owner and firefighter, John knows first-hand the importance of low rates and the importance of reliable power and water.
